Lifeline Immigration

This is good news for skilled workers applying for permanent residency and international student applicants.

PNP sets the pace for Canadian Immigration

Canada has created the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to streamline and set the pace for the immigration permanent residence applications. The PNP gives each province an opportunity to set its own requirements and processes for immigration. Its goal is to welcome immigrants – skilled workers, healthcare professionals, international graduates, and entrepreneurs – who will fill labour needs and who have the intent to settle and hence, contribute to local economies.  Moreover, a provincial nomination can significantly increase an applicant’s points in the Express Entry system, facilitating being given the invitation to apply for permanent residency.

There is a two-step application process involved: first, being nominated by a province, and then submission of an application to the federal government for permanent residency.

The PNP will take on an increasingly significant role as the country proceeds with its 2026 to 2028 immigration plan. The November Express Entry Draw #377 underscores the emphasis of the provinces and the federal government to give preference to skilled professionals who can support regional development.

Fast-tracking Study Permits

Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is simplifying the study permit process for international students. Come January 1, 2026, master’s and doctoral students will no longer be required to submit a provincial or territorial attestations letter (PAL/TAL) when applying for a study permit. As a result, these graduate students have the advantage of a two-week fast-track processing, enabling them to commence their coursework on time.  There is no limit on the number of those who can qualify through this pathway. Moreover, the students can also bring along their families to the country.

IRCC singles out Canadian experience class in latest Express Entry draw

Are you a skilled worker who has worked full-time in Canada for a year now? Your dream of making Canada your permanent home may be sooner than you think!

IRCC has focused on candidates eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) in its latest Express Entry draw.  This underscores one of the immigration directions of the government to target individuals who have already gained significant work experience within Canada. It hopes to absorb into the Canadian labour market and hence, meet specific economic needs, individuals who have already demonstrated their ability to succeed in Canada with their professional abilities. This will consequently fast-track the candidates’ bid for permanent residency as well.
